Dear Parent:

Thank you for your interest in registering your child for participation in the 2022 3M Young Scientist Challenge, a national science contest for students in Grades 5 – 8 designed to encourage the exploration, understanding and communication of science among the next generation of America's youth ("Contest").

To participate in the Contest, your child must create a video based on his/her own original idea that addresses the challenge outlined in the contest entry information. The contents of the video are up to your child, but it may contain your child's likeness, image, voice or other identifiable features.

The judges will consider the creativity, scientific knowledge, persuasiveness, and overall presentation of your child’s video. Discovery Education, Inc. (the "Sponsor") intends to select the best students, and award them with a trip to the final competition event during October 2022, accompanied by their parent or legal guardian, to compete for a Grand Prize of $25,000. For information on the other prizes to be awarded and the complete details of the Contest, please see the Official Rules and entry form for the Contest or visit www.youngscientistlab.com. Note that due to the unknown future effects of the COVID-19 global health crisis and any related impacts, Sponsor reserves the right in its sole discretion to modify the timing and/or format of the Contest and final competition event (“Final Event”), including but not limited to postponing the Final Event or holding the Final Event in a virtual format.
