SARA MAKBOUL - SETTLING DOWN & GETTING TO WORK!

Hello, bonjour, buenos dias, salam, ciao, and aloha dear scientists!

I'm hoping all you loyal viewers enjoyed the first episode of Science & Sara because I loved making it! Also keep your eyes open for next week's new episode as well!

Anyways, its been somewhat of a long week for me having to balance everything with the start of my freshman year of highschool. To my surprise, I am still able to willingly find time to prepare, deliberate, and innovate with my mentor. I find myself more motivated than ever as the summer comes to close & as I start settling down and getting to work.

The process of picking just one problem/solution has been a lengthy one for me because there are so many problems I observe in the world today that trigger my sense of innovation and change. As I decide on a problem, one of the biggest factors for me is if the solution is testable or not. With such a big oppurtunity I'd like to be 100% sure that I am innovating to end a problem effectively, and in a way that works.

As I make my final decision I feel being mentored by Kris (an actual 3M scientist) has never meant so much and is so helpful on this journey. One of the unique things Kris has helped me realize is that it is imperitive to be able to anticipate and think about the future of an innovation/problem to avoid any thing that could greatly hinder your forseen success. This amazing advice will hopefully stick me me throuhgout the rest of my problem solving career.

Up to this point in the competition and thinking back on my work this summer, I feel fairly accomplished but that's nothing to say I'm anywhere near done. Again I'm motivated and willing to put forth effort in the remaining time with my mentor at my side (and in the simplist words) just do it!
