Tip Tuesday: No Fancy Lab Required

What Project Materials Can You Find In Your Home?

Did you think the Young Scientist Challenge required a high-tech lab or expensive science equipment? You'll be glad to hear that we'll actually be more impressed with your entry if you're resourceful and use materials from your everyday life! It's the thought and creativity that counts when it comes to creating your project.

Listen as Mehaa, a 2018 Young Scientist Challenge Finalist, describes the household items that she used for her project. Then take a look around your own home through the eyes of a Young Scientist. Do the materials in your recycling bin, junk drawer or closet all of the sudden look a little more useful?

Once you've collected a variety of items that may come in handy, it's time to get to work. Remember: All submissions are due by May 7th!

Follow us on Twitter @3M and @DiscoveryEd and tell us why you're inspired to enter the Young Scientist Challenge using #YoungScientist. Then remember to submit your entry before the May 7 deadline.
