Krish- Let the Young Scientist Finalist Challenge Begin!

Hi! I’m Krish and I’m a finalist in the Young Scientist Challenge.

I’d like to start off by saying that my generation needs more opportunities to express our creative ideas to a larger community. In this competition, we were given one. Moreover, there’s a profusion of incurable diseases- Huntington’s is one of them. Thousands lose their lives on a daily basis and I cannot bare with this statistic. This inspired me to enter the contest. I hope that the potential solution I proposed comes to the real world as I expand the project with the help of my 3M mentor, Dr. Sahni.

I enjoyed producing my entry video because I was making and editing a film about something I am truly passionate about. The limit was two minutes so I had to squeeze some information, but it all worked out in the end!

Honestly, I didn’t expect myself to make it this far in the competition, and that’s why I will use this as a personal lesson for self-confidence. When I received a call from Discovery 3M, I didn’t know what to expect. Five minutes after I got off the phone, I was bursting with excitement- I was a finalist!

Winning this competition would be a dream come true. If I were to win, I would continue to upsize this project and tackle more medical problems present in our world. Using the $25,000 award, I would also save some money to cover college expenses, and the rest would be donated to AHA and Meals by Grace.

My friends and family are very excited about this accomplishment and have supported me in this journey. They find my idea fascinating and I’m grateful to have their best wishes for the final competition in October, as I continue to work on the project.
