Meet Allie. Allie hopes to revolutionize the way people design medical equipment for children starting with the incentive spirometer.
Why did you enter the Young Scientist Challenge?
My science teacher encouraged me to enter this competition. I am a bit of a prolific inventor, so it made sense.
What is your favorite invention of the last 100 years, and why?
I think my favorite idea in the last 100 years might have to be the idea of open source sharing. It has enabled everyone to build just about anything. It opens up doors to new innovators that have ideas but might not have otherwise had the tools to build what they imagine. It has encouraged collaboration and fueled innovation at a gigantic rate. It has made my world a whole lot larger, and enables people to see beyond their previous capabilities.
In 15 years I hope to be...
Inventor for my own company, electrical engineer, N.A.S.A Engineer, and my back up plan is to work as a Librarian because I love books too.
Edison made a LOT of lightbulbs before one worked well.
