Meet Jai. Jai saw the Young Scientist Challenge as an opportunity to challenge him in identifying and solving a major issue in the world. Past participants inspired him and Jai was also thrilled at the prospect of working with 3M mentors.

Jai enjoys exploring how to use technology to solve everyday problems. He’s even created a gaming system for the senior center where he volunteers and an automatic light dimmer that sense sound levels in a school cafeteria.
Why did you enter the Young Scientist Challenge?
I entered this challenge as it gave me an opportunity to challenge myself in identifying and solving a major issue in the world. Looking at the videos of the past participants has further inspired me to create new inventions. I am also excited about the possibility of working with mentors.
What is your favorite invention of the last 100 years, and why?
My favorite invention for the last 100 yrs is the Internet. I think this was an amazing invention that has totally changed the way we communicate and learn. There are so many opportunities that we know about and so many new things we can learn with tremendous ease today. This was not possible before the Internet existed.
In 15 years I hope to be...
an Electronics Engineer. I really enjoy exploring how to use technology to solve everyday problems. I have built a gaming system for a senior center where I volunteer on a regular basis. I also built an automatic light dimmer that senses sound levels in a school cafeteria.
I want to be an Electronics Engineer. I really enjoy exploring how to use technology to solve everyday problems.
