Smart Infrared Based ROV to Identify and Remove Microplastics from Marine Environments
Meet Anna. Anna created an underwater device that uses infrared light to detect harmful microplastics in the ocean.
Why did you enter the Young Scientist Challenge?
The reason why I entered this challenge is because I was looking for an ideal place that can help incubate my idea which I think can potentially help the world and helps me get mentors from 3M's pool of talented scientists and engineers.
What is your favorite invention of the last 100 years, and why?
My favorite invention of the last 100 years is the silicon semiconductor circuit. This is because it is ubiquitous, and is found everywhere in our modern lives such as in: tablets, phones, computers, and other electronic, and even medical devices including sensors and micro-controller platforms like the ones I use in my ROV.
In 15 years I hope to be...
An engineer because I love the ocean and marine animals, and I want to do something to help. In the future, with my engineering, I hope to be able to save people with all of my inventions.
