Meet Krish. Krish hopes to cure Huntington’s Disease through an injectable medication using Synthetic Antibody Mimics (SyAMs) to locate and attach to a specific protein found on the surface of cancer cells to ultimately eliminate Huntington’s disease.
Why did you enter the Young Scientist Challenge?
I entered the Discovery 3M Contest to share my innovation and potential solution to the world of science. I am vastly passionate about Huntington's Disease, and after spending much time researching and experimenting, I wanted to show the global community that we are ever so close to developing a cure.
What is your favorite invention of the last 100 years, and why?
My favorite invention of the last 100 years is the "Pacemaker." This is a medical device that uses electrical impulses to contract the heart so that abnormal heart rhythms can be stabilized. The invention has modernized medical science and cardiology, and without it, many patients would develop worse case arrhythmias that could cause death.
In 15 years I hope to be...
Finishing up residency as I would like to become a neurosurgeon or cardiologist when I grow up.
"Being able to submit an entry about a topic that I am immensely interested in on such a magnificent scientific platform is truly incredible. Moreover, the fact of possibly working with a 3M Scientist that would harness the capabilities of my invention to the fullest level is fascinating."
