Magnetic Train Travel

About the Idea

Caroline developed a sustainable method of public transportation that eliminates the need for a diesel engine or electric motor in trains.

Why did you enter the 3M Young Scientist Challenge?

I entered the Young Scientist Challenge because I wanted the opportunity to share my invention with the world. I believe communicating and collaborating with others is the best way to solve important global issues such as global warming and climate change.

What is your favorite invention of the last 100 years, and why?

My favorite invention in the last 100 years is 3D printers because they allow me to transform my virtual ideas into solid objects. They have allowed me to design, print, and test various parts of my prototype rapidly and easily. 3D printing gives more people around the world access to developing new ideas that can benefit society.

In 15 years I hope to be...

a scientist involved in making our world a better place.

I am among those who think that science has great beauty - Marie Curie
